The financial value of boron (B) in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry has been past dispute for numerous many years. Even within the final 20 years, the parts the place B deficiency limits plant construction has grown with elevated reviews from China, south Asia and southeast Asia. the current quantity is reflective of the growing to be knowledge of the importance of low soil B with studies from Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, north, principal and southern China, India, Nepal, and the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan contained herein. Boron deficiency additionally remains to be an issue for crop yield and caliber in components the place B deficiency has been recognized for it slow, for instance in Germany and the us. the matter of low soil B isn't constrained to results on box crop yield, with papers reporting on depressed wooden yield and caliber in trees timber (Lambert et al. ), and depressed fruit caliber (Dong et al. ; Smith et al. : Zude et al. ) additionally showing within the current quantity. Globally, Shorrocks (1997)1 estimates that ?? tonnes of B fertiliser is utilized every year in agriculture. the industrial merits from using B fertiliser haven't been quantified yet are truly huge, immense. satirically, the transparent monetary imperatives for utilizing B fertiliser on low B soils usually are not matched through an analogous readability of figuring out of the function and features of B in plants.

All possible combinations of three rates of B (0,2,4 kg B ha- I as borax) and Fe (0,10,20 kg Fe ha -1 as ferrous sulfate) were applied in the experiment. A basal dose of N-P at the rate of 100-60 kg ha -I was uniformly applied to the experimental plot. A randomized complete block (RCB) design with 3 replications and plot size of 3 m by 5 m was used. Wheat variety Barani-90 was sown at the rate of 100 kg ha- I on December OS, 1992 and harvested on May 15, 1993. Data were recorded for yield and yield components and statistically analysed as appropriate for a randomized complete block design (Steel and Torrie, 1980).

9 mg B I-I in the soil solution was toxic to sunflower. In summary, the effect of AI-hydroxides precipitation due to liming on B availability to sunflower in this sandy soil depends on when the nutrient is applied. Whereas most of the B added before liming is adsorbed when the hydroxides precipitate, when B is added after most of the lime reaction has already occurred in the soil. the adsorption is low. This occurs because Al precipitation after lime reaction is not as marked as it is at a lower pH.
